We know some folks enjoyed e20 and will be disappointed, so I'll be transparent with you all. The reason for our shift to 5.5e moving forward is because we didn't see the sales to sustain continued E20 releases for Power Rangers, Transformers, or GI JOE. So ultimately, to feasibly continue making TTRPG titles for Power Rangers, Transformers, and GI JOE, we needed to shift to a model that supports better new player acquisition.

Here's some key insights behind our decision on this shift to the 5.5e 2nd editions:

- Lower barrier to entry. Many players already own 5.5e-compatible products, dice, tools, and VTT resources, making it easier and more affordable to get started.
- Larger player base. Moving to 5.5e means millions of existing RPG players can easily jump into Transformers, G.I. JOE, and Power Rangers using a rules system they already know.
- More people to play with. A larger player community makes it easier to find groups, recruit friends, and run organized play events.
- Keeps the focus on the worlds and stories. The goal is to make it easier for more people to experience being an Autobot, a Ranger, or a G.I. JOE operative rather than asking them to learn a new rules system first. Keep in mind we're thinking of new players here, as that's key to continue these games.
- Existing Essence20 products don't disappear. Current books remain fully playable and continue to offer a complete experience for groups that enjoy the system.
