Session 50 - The Spiral Depths of Madness
The mummies seemed immune to all damage. The stage, sarcophagi and the scarab enamel inside each of the sarcophagi glowed with magic. We found a scarab of the color that we had seen all over the pyramid in each sarcophagus that when pulled out removed the protection from the mummies. They were quickly killed after that.
On the walls we were able to read:
We found a hidden door in the stage that led to an old elevator. We rested and after cleaning ourselves of the curse, got on the elevator and went down. The elevator broke, dropping Grofire to the ground. We found ourselves in a giant underground city. There were thousands of spirits everywhere and a giant lightning storm in the center of everything. The spirits seemed non-hostile to us. They guided us to a building that looked like a temple with drawings of dragons. We entered the temple and saw a raised circular altar. As we approached, 6 spirits flew in and touched the altar and then removed their hands and looked at us. E’kra touched the altar and saw a vision of an ancient blue dragon being offered a potion by 6 cultists which it drank and then died to the cries of the cultists. Aldryn noticed light starting to come from outside of the temple. When he looked, he saw balls of light flying towards us quickly. We all touched the altar together, but nothing happened. The balls of light turned out to be a group of flame-skulls that told us that we shouldn’t have come and that Xinvarwaataa was coming. Grofire cast a globe of invulnerability and we started killing off the skulls. The lead skull dropped a piece of metal when it was killed. Kahsmir gathered it from where it fell after we finished off all of the skulls. As she went, E’kra received a message from Sol’er saying that she was close, but she should be wary of a fight as he had sent his strongest warlock and he never heard from him again. The spirits pointed Kahsmir back to the temple and she put the shard on the altar, causing a flash of light. After the flash faded, the storm faded as well and a giant black gemstone was now visible. We started upwards and the side of the city was shown to be an illusion as an enormous undead blue dragon.
